{"id":3748,"date":"2013-01-18T05:59:36","date_gmt":"2013-01-18T11:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/?p=3748"},"modified":"2013-01-18T08:12:52","modified_gmt":"2013-01-18T14:12:52","slug":"openstack-at-fosdem13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/openstack-at-fosdem13\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenStack at FOSDEM&#8217;13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">OpenStack will be showing a strong presence at FOSDEM 13, the largest gathering of free and open source developers in Europe.\u00a0 There will be a number of talks in the <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/track\/cloud\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cloud devroom<\/a> in the <em>Chavanne<\/em> auditorium on Sunday, February 3rd and in other places:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At 9:30, Thierry Carrez will open the devroom with <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/state_of_openstack\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>State of the OpenStack Union, 2013<\/strong><\/a>. A talk about what happened in the OpenStack development community since last year presentation at FOSDEM.<\/li>\n<li>At 10:00, don\u2019t miss Mark McLoughlin\u2019s talk: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/openstack_app_arch\/\" target=\"_blank\">OpenStack: 21st Century App Architecture and Cloud Operations<\/a>.<\/strong> He will expose how OpenStack is built with the same resilience and automation principles as highly-scalable cloud applications.<\/li>\n<li>(In room <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/room\/k3401\/\">K.3.401<\/a>) At 11:30 Thierry Carrez will talk about the job market around OpenStack and python: <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/openstack\/\">Get a Python job, work on OpenStack<\/a><\/li>\n<li>At 15:00, Rob Clark will detail his <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/security_priorities\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Security Priorities for Cloud Developers<\/strong><\/a>: the main security challenges OpenStack faces and what we should do about them.<\/li>\n<li>At 15:30, Tomas Sedovic will introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/openstack_heat\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Orchestrating complex deployments on OpenStack using Heat<\/strong><\/a>. The Heat project is in OpenStack incubation currently so this is a great opportunity to learn more about it.<\/li>\n<li>Finally to close the day at 16:30, Nick Barcet, Eoghan Glynn and Julien Danjou will storm the stage and introduce the other OpenStack project currently in incubation: <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/openstack_ceilometer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Measuring OpenStack: the Ceilometer Project<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will also be OpenStack mentions in various other talks during the day: Martyn Taylor should demonstrate OpenStack Horizon in conjunction with <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/image_management\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aeolus Image Factory<\/a> at 13:30, and Vangelis Koukis will present <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/synnefo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Synnefo<\/a>, which provides OpenStack APIs, at 14:00.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Feb 2nd in room <a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/room\/h1309\/\">H.1309<\/a>, at 11:50 James Page will talk about<a href=\"https:\/\/fosdem.org\/2013\/schedule\/event\/automating_openstack_testing\/\">Automating OpenStack Testing on Ubuntu<\/a>, first hand experience from Ubuntu about testing on hardware every upstream commit.
