Since pineapple is a symbol of hospitality, I think we&#8217;ve foreshadowed how welcoming our community is.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.flickr.com\/photos\/darwinbell\/300377426\/sizes\/m\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3620 alignnone\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"darwinbell-pineapple\" src=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/darwinbell-pineapple-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\n<p>With a flurry of applications, we had a difficult decision in front of us, deciding who would be our newest mentored contributors through the <a href=\"https:\/\/live.gnome.org\/OutreachProgramForWomen\">GNOME Outreach Program for Women<\/a>. All the applicants were enthusiastic and personable, knowledgeable and technical. I&#8217;m pleased to announce that the decisions have been made and these three are going to work on OpenStack full-time from January to March:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.openstack.org\/Laura%20Alves\">Laura Alves da Quinta<\/a> (IRC: ladquin), Buenos Aires, Argentina &#8211; Documentation &#8211; Anne Gentle<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/anteaya.info\/\">Anita Kuno<\/a> (IRC: anteaya), Haliburton, Ontario, Canada &#8211; Python Clients &#8211; Iccha Sethi<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/vmartinezdelacruz.com\">Victoria Mart\u00ednez de la Cruz<\/a> (IRC: vkmc), Bah\u00eda Blanca, Argentina &#8211; Horizon&#8217;s Workflows &#8211; Julie Pichon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Updated to add: The OpenStack Foundation, Rackspace, and Red Hat sponsored one internship each, and I want to be sure to express our appreciation to our sponsors. Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>Our interns are expected to blog about their experiences, and we hope to get sponsorships for them to travel to the next Summit to share their projects as well. While they&#8217;re here to learn from us, I think we can all learn from them and their fresh perspective.
