Hooked together by GoToMeeting provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DPendOnTheCloud\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Pendlebury<\/a> at Citrix, the evening saw OpenStack, pizza and beer served up at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intersect.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Intersect&#8217;s<\/a> offices in Sydney, Haylix&#8217;s offices in Melbourne and Red Hat&#8217;s offices in Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>We believe this may have been the first multi city meetup where 3 way video linked the sites together, and we also had some attendees join us remotely.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#%21\/tristangoode\" target=\"_blank\">Tristan Goode<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/aptira.com\" target=\"_blank\">Aptira<\/a> in Sydney, speakers were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sinatweet\" target=\"_blank\">Sina Sadeghi<\/a>, Lead Cloud Engineer from Aptira, who reviewed the recent Folsom Summit and presented his insightful views on the path to Grizzly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We then crossed to Melbourne and heard from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/otakumike\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Richardson<\/a>, Managing Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/haylix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Haylix<\/a>, presented a preview of their soon to be released Nova compute cloud.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/xenonsystems\" target=\"_blank\">Dragan Dimitrovici<\/a>, CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xenon.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Xenon<\/a>, talked about how Xenon worked with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nectar.org.au\" target=\"_blank\">NeCTAR<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/melbitsresearch\" target=\"_blank\">University of Melbourne<\/a> to deploy Xenon servers successfully in their OpenStack cloud.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lastly we transferred the main video feed to Brisbane to hear from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/bruce-reeler\/2\/571\/6ab\" target=\"_blank\">Bruce Reeler<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/redhat.com\" target=\"_blank\">Red Hat<\/a>\u00a0talked about the documentation project for Red Hat&#8217;s Folsom preview release.<\/li>\n<li>And to wrap up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/edan-scriven\/46\/205\/86b\" target=\"_blank\">Edan Scrivan<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/pub\/jason-andrade\/0\/31b\/1a3\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Andrade<\/a> from The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nectar.org.au\/queensland-node-nectar-cloud\" target=\"_blank\">University of Queensland<\/a> showed us pics and talked about the hardware and how they were deploying their NeCTAR node.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The evening wasn&#8217;t without some minor hitches that we&#8217;ll work out for next time, but all in all it was deemed a success and a great way to get OpenStack out to more people more efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>My sincere thanks to our presenters, and to our sponsors<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/in\/mikerichardsonau\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Richardson<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haylix.com\" target=\"_blank\">Haylix<\/a> for the Melbourne venue and beer<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/pub\/dragan-dimitrovici\/1\/1b6\/827\" target=\"_blank\">Dragan Dimitrovi<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xenon.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Xenon<\/a> for the Melbourne pizzas<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/pub\/tim-hildred\/55\/b36\/204\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Hildred<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/redhat.com\" target=\"_blank\">Red Hat<\/a> for the Brisbane venue, beers and pizza<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/pub\/shane-youl\/9\/377\/3b7\" target=\"_blank\">Shane Youl<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intersect.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Intersect<\/a>\u00a0for the Sydney venue<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/in\/sangeetadevi\" target=\"_blank\">Sangeeta Devi<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/au.westcon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Westcon<\/a> for the Sydney beer<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aptira\" target=\"_blank\">Aptira<\/a> for the Sydney food<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most importantly, I&#8217;d like to give a very special and long overdue thank you to <a href=\"http:\/\/au.linkedin.com\/in\/katrinaclauscen\" target=\"_blank\">Katrina Clauscen<\/a> who has been behind the planning of nearly every AOSUG event we&#8217;ve had in every capital city in Australia since we began over a year ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our next event is an <a href=\"https:\/\/lca2013.linux.org.au\/wiki\/Miniconfs\/OpenStack\" target=\"_blank\">OpenStack miniconf<\/a> to be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/linux.conf.au\" target=\"_blank\">Linux Conf AU<\/a>\u00a0(LCA) on January 29 and to date w<strong>e have more than 140 people who have registered their interest to attend<\/strong>.
