{"id":2618,"date":"2012-05-31T19:15:52","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T00:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/?p=2618"},"modified":"2012-06-01T16:00:43","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T21:00:43","slug":"recap-openstack-meetup-apr-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/recap-openstack-meetup-apr-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: OpenStack Meetup Apr 26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">About a month ago, LA had its third OpenStack\u2122 Meetup,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.meetup.com\/OpenStack-LA\/events\/55465192\/\">\u201cThis Calls for Essex-y Party\u201d<\/a>. \u00a0The atmosphere was electric and the air was thick with love \u2013 love for OpenStack and burritos.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2673\" src=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_184512-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_184512-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_184512.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\n<p>It could have been that many of us were still flying high from the OpenStack Summit\/Conference that occurred the week before.\u00a0 It could have been\u00a0that we were excited for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/openstack.org\/projects\/essex\/press-release\/\">Essex release<\/a>\u00a0that dropped in early April. \u00a0Or perhaps it was our anticipation for the future of OpenStack \u2013 code-named Folsom.\u00a0 Whatever the reason, we were all on cloud nine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_195059.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2680 alignleft\" style=\"margin-right: 15px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_195059-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_195059-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120426_195059.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>With our bellies full of big fat burritos and a couple of Mexican beers, we kicked off the fiesta with a presentation from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/robertssean\">Sean Roberts<\/a>, who is in charge of Infrastructure Strategy at<a href=\"http:\/\/info.yahoo.com\/center\/us\/yahoo\/\">Yahoo!<\/a>.\u00a0 DreamHost\u2019s Cloud Architect,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/carl-perry\/a\/380\/9a0\">Carl Perry<\/a>, anchored the Meetup with the second presentation.\u00a0 For your eyeball and earball pleasure, I\u2019ve included the videos below with a brief description of what was covered.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sean presented on the recently released Essex version of OpenStack, and talked about the future of Folsom. He also touched upon the newly formed OpenStack Foundation. \u00a0(I experimented with a wireless mic and failed at capturing almost half of the Q\/A.
