Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack company, in conjunction with the OpenStack Foundation and with sponsor support from Google, Oracle, Intel, A10 Networks, Blue Box (an IBM Company), and Cisco, will host the second annual OpenStack Silicon Valley on August 26 and 27. This year, representatives from Google Cloud Platform, CoreOS, Cloud Foundry and others will convene with OpenStack luminaries, including Jonathan Bryce, Randy Bias, Lew Tucker, and Mark Interrante to discuss the intersection of containers and OpenStack.

The OpenStack community event will be held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. Joe Weinman, industry veteran, Gigaom Structure alumnus, and the author of Cloudonomics and Digital Disciplines, will host a series of fireside chats and one-on-one sessions with industry experts, including:

  • Adrian Cockcroft, technology fellow, Battery Ventures
  • Alex Polvi, CEO, CoreOS
  • Craig McLuckie, product manager, Google
  • Diane Bryant, SVP & general manager, Data Center Group, Intel
  • Jonathan Bryce, executive director, OpenStack Foundation
  • Lew Tucker, VP and CTO of cloud computing, Cisco
  • Mark Interrante, cloud SVP engineering, HP

“Community involvement in OpenStack is incredibly important for its continual growth,” said OpenStack Foundation Executive Director, Jonathan Bryce. “OpenStack Silicon Valley hands the keys over to the broader OpenStack community, sparking genuine discussion about use cases, strategies, strengths and weaknesses in the ecosystem.”

Last year’s sold-out OpenStack Silicon Valley event focused on the rapid growth of OpenStack and the need for a clear OpenStack product strategy. It was sponsored by companies across the OpenStack ecosystem, including Cisco, HP, Juniper Networks, Oracle, Ubuntu and VMware, Inc., and drew more than a dozen analysts and journalists from Gartner, IDC, 451 Research, SiliconANGLE, eWeek, TechTarget, The New Stack, and GigaOm.

“This year’s OpenStack Silicon Valley speaker lineup is on par with any of the leading Silicon Valley and global conferences, and certain to be full of insight and intelligence,” said Weinman. “Because OpenStack, containers, and related topics are so top-of-mind for CTOs and CIOs, we expect to see the conversation dive deeply into a broad range of important areas: the latest technological developments, practical implementation guidelines, technology tradeoffs, integration issues, business value, leading practitioner case studies, and trends, trajectories, and forthcoming innovations."
