VANCOUVER, British Columbia // OPENSTACK SUMMIT // May 18, 2015 — Blue Box is preparing for general availability of the company’s on-premises edition of Blue Box Cloud. Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises is a product designed specifically to resolve challenges that the vast majority of enterprises face when implementing private cloud—cloud operations.
Blue Box, a Seattle-based provider of on-demand OpenStack-powered hosted and on-premises private cloud-as-a-service solutions, made the announcement today at the OpenStack Summit in Vancouver. The company will release the offering in general availability at the beginning of Q3.
Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises is built with the same architecture as the industry-leading Blue Box Cloud hosted edition, which is recognized as a Strong Performer in the Forrester Wave™: Hosted Private Cloud Solutions, Q4 2014. Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises is designed for customers that need a rapidly deployable OpenStack private cloud running in their data center or colocation space, but want a partner to manage operations of that cloud. Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises takes the risk out of on-premises deployment and operations of OpenStack and leaves the continuous innovation and management to the professionals at Blue Box.

Dell, Juniper Networks, Nimble and Others Team With Blue Box
A Joint Development Project with Alliance Technology Group for Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises was first announced in February. Today, the company provides additional details about others involved in the product.
The hardware specification was developed in a joint effort with Dell to define a tightly specified hardware Reference Architecture and Deployment Guide for servers and storage. Dell will supply servers and object storage for the product, which will use the Dell R630 for compute services and the Dell FX Series for control plane.
The Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 product family powers Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises. As a leader in the OpenStack ecosystem, Intel processors provide users of Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises with a high level of performance, security and efficiency.
Blue Box also worked with Juniper Networks to design a networking topology for this highly converged cloud infrastructure. Leveraging integrated routing, switching and security technology from Juniper, Blue Box will use Juniper Networks® SRX Series Services Gateway, as well as MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers and QFX5100 data center switches.
Blue Box also worked with Nimble Storage to integrate their CS300 for the high performance and feature rich block storage that enterprise workloads demand.
Deployment and Operations
In addition to the Joint Development Program with Alliance Technology Group, Blue Box Cloud On-Prem for Enterprises will be delivered with logistical support and on-site services provided a range of select systems integrators.
The Blue Box Global Network Operations Center offers enterprise customers 24/7/365 support and a hassle-free private cloud experience, in their colo cage or in their own data center.
Early Adopter Program
An early adopter program is available to provide customers with first access to an OpenStack-powered cloud offering that simplifies operations for enterprises with workloads benefiting from both on-prem and hosted cloud models.
