Chief Technology Officer

Trey Layton is Chief Technology Officer of VCE. He is responsible for guiding VCE’s product strategy, development direction and industry thought leadership. Layton and VCE are working to deliver next generation converged infrastructure to transform the economics, agility and profitability of enterprises and service providers as they transition to cloud-enabled business models. VCE is a joint venture between Cisco and EMC with investments from VMware and Intel.

Layton was named to his current position in 2011. He joined VCE in 2010 to build and lead VCE’s worldwide service provider, channels and public sector sales engineering efforts. Prior to VCE, Layton was employed by NetApp, where he was a key contributor to NetApp’s virtualization and secure multi-tenancy offerings. Layton’s previous experience also includes positions at Cisco Systems where he served in various engineering roles, establishing strong competencies in networking, security, voice, virtualization and data center solutions. At Cisco, he spent much of the 1990s leading sales and services engineering teams of regional and national partners focused on data center and virtualization practices.
