Q

What is your relationship to OpenStack, and why is its success important to you? What would you say is your biggest contribution to OpenStack's success to date?

A

My current role is with the Rackspace Private Cloud Services group. Specificaly, this means I build things on top of, or in addition to OpenStack services. Currently this is focused around InfoSec and Usability, however, like all things services, this is subject to change.

The moment I realized OpenStack's success was going to be critical came when I was working with a local university who is adopting OpenStack as part of their research program. Specifically I realized that these will be the foundational technologies that my children build the next generation of things with.

My biggest contribution to date? I'd say it's a tossup between the OpenStack Security Guide and the Couch to OpenSack series. Both of these provide onboarding assistance, guidance, and direction for those getting familiar with or those responsibile for OpenStack deployments.

Q

Describe your experience with other non profits or serving as a board member. How does your experience prepare you for the role of a board member?

A

I currently have no prior non-profit board experience.

Q

What do you see as the Board's role in OpenStack's success?

A

The board has a critical role in keeping OpenStack successful. It does this by empowering and guiding at times, whilst staying out of the way at others.

Q

What do you think the top priority of the Board should be in 2014?

A

.
