John Igoe, Executive Director of Cloud and Big Data Solutions at Dell, has spent over 25 years in the high-tech industry. He has held executive leadership positions in corporations like Nortel and Bay Networks, and also has startup experience in founding SilverBack Technologies, which was acquired by Dell in 2007. John currently leads an agile, startup like team within Dell that is responsible for delivering complete solutions based on emerging technologies such as OpenStack, Crowbar and Hadoop. Finally, as part of John’s ongoing international entrepreneurial initiatives, he has raised over 35 million dollars in venture capital, and guided start ups in both business and technology strategies.
John actively demonstrates his commitment to OpenStack and open source solutions as an executive sponsor at Dell, and he continues to be a vocal advocate for OpenStack in the industry. He’s very visible in the OpenStack marketplace and community, including being a sought after keynote speaker on OpenStack at a wide variety of events worldwide, encouraging developer contributions and end-user adoption. Furthermore, John leads a team of OpenStack advocates at Dell that are regularly viewed as experts in their respective areas in the OpenStack community.
I have been a supporter of the OpenStack technology and community since it was first publicly announced on July 19, 2011, and was the only hardware solutions vendor to do so on Day 1. Since then, in my role we have been focused on enabling customers around the world to leverage the OpenStack technology, deploy it simply and quickly, and use it to solve real business needs.
