I write network/compute plugins for OpenStack

Bio

My career started off building hosting, streaming video, CDN and most recently cloud IaaS companies. I spent 15 years as a software engineer and have slowly transitioned into being more strategic product and architecture focused. I've had the privilege of getting to know many of the early Openstack contributors and have been inspired by watching the community grow.

Jean-Christophe is a candidate in the 2014 Board Election.

Q

What is your relationship to OpenStack, and why is its success important to you? What would you say is your biggest contribution to OpenStack's success to date?

A

I have been helping build a product, at Cloudscaling, based on Openstack since the Diablo release. I've had success extending Nova using existing plug-in interfaces and making Nova simpler and easier to install. I've helped deploy Openstack into some of the worlds largest service providers, telcos, web and gaming companies.

Q

Describe your experience with other non profits or serving as a board member. How does your experience prepare you for the role of a board member?

A

I don't have a lot of experience with non-profits or serving on any boards, I just have a deep desire and motivation to help make Openstack successful and grow a vibrant ecosystem.

Q

What do you see as the Board's role in OpenStack's success?

A

Finding the right balance of top down and bottoms up strategy to make sure Openstack serves the need of those building private clouds, new IaaS public clouds and those whom want an open source option to convert their legacy IT organization into more efficient and modern models.

Q

What do you think the top priority of the Board should be in 2014?

A

Empowering paths to success that make Openstack even more consumable by those who aren't developers. Strategic focus on interopability with existing technology and services.
